Ingredients:

  • 1 medium organic sweet potato (about 6–7 inches long)

  • 1 tsp olive oil or avocado oil

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional for a hint of sweetness)

  • Pinch of garlic powder (optional, skip for younger toddlers)

  • 1 tsp ground flaxseed (optional, for added fiber & omega-3s)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. You can also use an air-fryer if it is easier ( I usually use an air-fryer)

  2. Prep the Sweet Potato:
Wash, peel, and cut the sweet potato into thick, soft fry shapes — about 1/2 inch wide and 3–4 inches long. This size helps keep them soft and easy for toddlers to grasp.

  3. Season:
In a bowl, toss the sweet potato sticks with olive oil, and sprinkle with cinnamon, ground flaxseed, and optional garlic powder. Mix well so everything is evenly coated.

  4. Bake:
Spread the fries out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes, then flip them and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until tender and slightly golden. For toddlers, you want the fries soft and not crispy or crunchy.

  5. Cool & Serve:
Let them cool slightly before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can reheat them in the oven or a toaster oven to retain texture.
